Success Stories

Below are examples of our recent successes in the Food & Beverage industry:

Marston's PLC

Marston's PLC

In 2008 Marston’s PLC realised, that to meet changing business requirements, they would need to replace the seven ageing standalone legacy payrolls and HR database with a single, integrated Human Resources and Payroll system. Key business drivers for the solution were improved financial reporting, compliance with Asylum and Immigration legislation, consolidated management reporting and more efficient business processes using workflow. In addition to the office based staff, nearly 500 Licenced Retail Managers (in pubs) would also need to use the system on a regular basis to hire staff, enter staff working hours and arrange staff training. An intuitive and easy to use manager front end would be essential to enable them to be as productive as possible. ROC helped design and deploy an SAP HCM solution to successfully meet these challenges.

Hall & Woodhouse

Hall & Woodhouse

Hall & Woodhouse is an independent regional brewer and pub company which operates an estate of over 250 managed and tenanted public houses. It wanted to improve its overall efficiency and asked ROC to help it with its Workforce Management. ROC successfully designed and piloted a Workforce Management solution that automates production of schedules/rotas based on weekly sales/workload forecasts and availablelabour resources; it creates accurate weekly sales/workload forecasts by pub based on EPoS sales data. It tracks actual attendance vs. schedule/rota; and produces outlet level reports.

Premier Foods

Premier Foods

Premier Foods is the largest food producer in the UK with well known brands like Mr Kipling, Hovis, Oxo and Branston. The company employs over 20,000 people with annual earnings in excess of £2.6 billion. Premier Foods has embarked on a vigorous growth strategy, acquiring businesses like Campbell’s and Rank Hovis McDougall (RHM). These acquisitions, however, meant the organisation had disparate HR, Time Management and Payroll systems. ROC implemented a common SAP HR / Payroll / Time Management solution across 65 different physical sites delivering considerable benefits including consolidated reporting, alignment of operating practices across sites, daily labour cost reporting and management of agency staff. United Biscuits

United Biscuits

United Biscuits (UB) is one of the world’s pre-eminent branded snacks businesses. It produces some of the best known and loved sweet and savoury snacks, with products ranging from biscuits and crackers to cakes and savoury snacks. The unrivalled portfolio of brands includes such favourites as McVitie’s, Jacob’s, Carr’s, McCoy’s, Hula Hoops, McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes, KP, Mini Cheddars and Phileas Fogg. In 2008 it set about harmonising HR processes and reducing overheads by centralising HR activity into a Shared Service Centre. ROC was engaged to help United Biscuits design the Shared Service Centre and the associated business processes and systems.

Milk Link

Milk Link

Milk Link is the UK’s most progressive integrated dairy business. Entirely owned by British dairy farmers, it employs around 1,430 people at eight processing facilities and in 2008/09 generated a turnover of £547m. ROC designed and implemented a SAP HCM & Payroll solution that includes multi-site payroll, personnel administration, absence recording and time management. The benefits delivered included payroll consolidation and simplification, merging payroll departments, headcount savings, removal of disparate legacy systems and interfaces, tighter integration with SAP Finance, providing a platform for standardising processes and delivering real time cost information.

Britvic

Britvic

Britvic Soft Drinks is one of the leading soft drinks businesses in Great Britain producing well-known brands including Robinsons, Tango and Pepsi. Since its IPO in December 2005 and the acquisition of soft drinks business of Cantrell & Cochrane in Ireland, the company has grown significantly. While its legacy systems were ‘best of breed’ they were 12 years old and were no longer able to cope with and cater for Britvic’s fast-growing and increasingly complex future workforce. ROC successfully helped Britvic to design and implement an integrated solution which they are very happy with. The Britvic HR Service Centre Manager commented “....staff are very happy with the new system – it’s much more intuitive than the old one.”
